"From Crown to Country"
Experience the transformation of New Jersey from a colony to a state
William Franklin William Livingston Using period documents and first hand accounts of the Revolutionary Era, museum educators will help bring to life the transformation of New Jersey from a British colony to an independent state of the United States of America. The rich colonial heritage of Liberty Hall and the stories of its occupants and important visitors will enrich the experience for students and they will gain an understanding of what had to be endured during the American Revolution. Throughout the program, students will visit various stations where they will participate in everyday tasks of the period.

Recommended Grade level: 4-5

"Changing Childhood"
Four distinct generations of childhood will be explored (1770's - 1940's)
Through the use of artifacts, reproductions and hands-on activities, students will discover what daily life was like for their peers long ago, Enriched by the actual stories of Liberty Hall residents, students will experience different aspects of a child's life in the late 1770's (before and after the American Revolution). the 1860's (before and after the Civil War), the 1880's (before and after the Industrial Revolution) and the 1940's (before and after WWII) . By comparing education, recreation, technology and lifestyles, students will grasp an understanding of how the constantly changing world shapes the lives we live.

Admission: $5.00
Program Times:
Wednesday-Friday, 10 am or noon. (Please have an alternate date in mind prior to calling for a reservation)

Lunch: Groups may bring lunch, which may be eaten in our picnic area or indoors in inclement weather.

Gift shop:
Students may purchase items related to their visit. Prices start at $1.00.
(Please let us know if you intend to use the lunch facilities & gift shop when you book your reservation.)
When you call, be sure to tell us if your group has any special need. Please note the maximum, group size for each program and the minimum adult to student ratio (one chaperone for each ten students).
