The Moving Wall, a half-scale replica of the actual Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C., serves as a solemn reminder of the more than 58,000 lives that were lost. Through the collaborative efforts of Kean University and Liberty Hall Museum, this historic monument is coming to Union, New Jersey this spring. It will be open to the public, free-of-charge, 24-hours a day, on the grounds of Liberty Hall, 1003 Morris Ave., Union, New Jersey, between May 17 and May 21, 2007. The schedule of Opening, closing, and daily ceremonies is available online at libertyhallnj.org/wall_schedule.cfm In many cases, the Moving Wall brings a sense of healing to families and friends of those who died or are still missing in Vietnam, while honoring all of the veterans who have served in American military actions over the years. Additionally, the Memorial serves to educate the community about the war in Vietnam and its impact on our nation as well as our veterans. The privilege of hosting this Memorial is one that we proudly share with our community and the surrounding region, as it is an excellent opportunity for those who have not visited the actual monument in Washington, D.C. to be moved and inspired by what it represents. There are currently 58,249 names on the Memorial. Of those, 1,560 are from New Jersey and 149 are from Union County. The privilege of hosting the Wall is one that we proudly share with our community and the surrounding region. It will help to bring a sense of healing to families and friends of those who died or are still missing in Vietnam, while honoring all of the veterans who have served in American military actions. We thank all veterans, their families and loved ones; and we hope this small tribute will help to honor those who served.
